The Afghan Rock Rest Area Nullarbor Plain is located some 5 kilometres east of Balladonia and or 176 kilometres west of Caiguna. This site is suitable for an overnight stay but offers limited facilities with only a picnic table. Pets are OK – there is some shade and the site is suitable for larger rigs with plenty of space. The maximum stay is 24-hours. The Afghan Rock Rest Area is popular as a rest area with large trucks. There are no toilets, no water, and no dump point. This is a large site with some shelter located among trees, and good distance off the highway to provide a quiet night’s sleep.

At the rest area on the left 5ks east of Balladonia Roadhouse at the western end of the rest area car park you are allowed to go through the gate Make sure you shut the gate because of cattle in there ) to Afghan Rock and camp there. Is is accessible for big vans, a hard track about 0.5 km in. Best spot is on the left on the bend where you can turn in and park on the flat rock. A nice spot to camp.
